Hi! Thank you for stopping by.
I‘m an internationally-experienced creative and writer, based in Europe and open to the world.
I help brands find their voice and tell their stories on
a global level, with craft always at the core.
If you‘d like to learn more, let‘s chat! And in the meantime, check out the FAQ section below to have some of your questions answered upfront.
1. Is your dad‘s name also Dekanova?
Actually no. My father’s name is Dekan. In Slovak language we automatically add ‘ova’ to all girls’ surnames when they’re born, just in case they turn out to be hot tennis players when they grow up.
2. Why don‘t you have a bio section written in 3rd person like normal people?
Alexandra was born behind the iron curtain. Maybe that‘s why she suffers from a reassuring need to regularly move her life from one country to another, and probably why her ears glow at night.
3. How is life in Slovenia? I mean Czechoslovakia, no Croatia! wait.. Slov…where are you from again?
*rolls her eyes*: dekanova.wordpress.com/2016/09/20
4. How many cities have you lived in so far?
Nine. That is exactly nine times more than the number of times I said no to free food. *quickly double checks 0 x 9 = 0 hmmmmmm* No cities. No cities at all.
5. Are you a true Amsterdammer when it comes to bicycles?
That depends. If you’re asking whether I would carry 5 toddlers and a shopping bag on my bike while texting at the same time, I would probably say no. I would also most likely still choose an Uber over a 47min ride in a hail storm. But hey, I’ve broken an elbow when crossing tram rails, bonus points?
6. What's the most daring thing you've ever done?
Lived in New York City without health insurance.
7. What is the worst thing you've done under peer pressure?
Finished watching Lord of the rings. All 3 parts.
8. What’s your favorite sport?
Tennis. Believe it or not, my name has little to do with it.
9. What’s your favorite Olympic discipline?
100 yard for people with no sense of direction. Here
10. Glass half full or half empty?
Always full to the top; with bubbly water.
11. Why does it always rain on me?
Because you probably live in Hamburg. It rains a ton.
12. Which word do you misspell the most?
I tend to confuse "sitting on a couch" with "sitting on a coach". Magically, I have received no harassment accusation yet.
13. Which cartoon character do you identify with the most?
Pinky from Pinky and the Brain.
14. What do you think Victoria’s secret is?
That she wears no underwear?
15. What she ordered?
Fish fillet!
16. Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?
Not at all. I‘m 6ft tall.
17. What’s in the box?
Dunno, but I hope it’s edible!
18. You haven‘t updated these answers for quite some time, have you?
Nah, they remind me of who I used to be when writing them. Innocent, naive, hungry a lot.
19. Okay but tell us something, how did you end up living in Prague?
I moved there in January 2020 for the time being, while I was trying to get a job in London. But all I really got was Corona virus. So I stayed, or wasn‘t allowed to leave, if you will, fell in love with the city and the rest is history.
20. Although, we hear you live in Berlin now?
That‘s correct. I guess I felt like my Internet was too fast and my healthcare was too accessible, so I thought why not shake things up a bit, you know? Keeping me humble.
21. And then you fell in love with the city, right?….right?
It‘s a slow-burn kinda romance, but yes! As it turns out, Berlin summers are really to die for. Unless, of course, you have a private insurance, then you may actually survive.
